POST-HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING
Students receive guidance in developing assertive self-advocacy skills as they plan for life after high school. Counselors and students review information regarding college courses or technical training, testing, interest inventories, campus or job-site visits, interviews, and other resources available outside the school environment.
College-bound students should take entrance exams (SAT, ACT) late in the junior year or early in the senior year. A schedule of testing dates and other information may be obtained from the Counselor. Updated educational testing is required in order to qualify for educational support services at most colleges.
Students are encouraged to visit the campuses of college or other training programs which they are considering, and special dispensation for school absences may be arranged through the Counselor's office for such purposes. For further detailed information, please refer to the Briarwood School publication, Decision Time! A Guide for Post-High School Planning, available from the Counselor.
